my life!

As we geared up for the upcoming performance, we seem to be facing a lot of problems. For example, ATTENDANCE! Attendance is a major part of band discipline. I understand that exams are around the corner but we have only about 4 practices before our first rehearsal. Dearest Students, I am a little upset over the fact that so many of you can simply just disappear because exams are coming. I know exams are coming but so is the 75th anniversary. 2 practices has already passed and although the band can play Classical Canon and Final Countdown, you must ask yourself whether it is the band who can play this 2 pieces or is it the leaders who can play this 2 pieces. The people who are at band for these 2 days are all the better players who usually read scores quickly. Those who didn’t come are the ones who actually need the practice. I have stress upon the band many times that the standard of the band is determine not by our best players, it is determined by our worst player. If everyone is average, a lot of problems will naturally solve. I will not mention any names although I feel like doing so. Instead, I will mention the people who still continue to commit towards a more successful band.

I totally agree with what JG has mentioned.ITS OVER! Whatever the colour of the medal, I'm proud of each and every single one of you people as you have made it to your first SYF. I'm sure there are many more to come in your band life if you are committed. There will be more competitions for you, be it local or overseas. You could also go as far as Amsterdam to take part in the World Music Competition someday. We are definitely proud to be your first mentors of your 'musical' journey.I'm sure all of you will agree with me that the band is indeed, a more cohesive and committed group. We are not only in the band room to fulfil our attendance. We are here to make good music. And of course, we've done so. Many a time, I'm sure we have mesmerised the school and the people staying around with our playing. All righty, let's continue our musical journey during the 75th Anniversary. It's another BIG project for us!In the meanwhile, STUDY HARD & ALL THE BEST FOR SA1!

All is not Lost! By JGCompetition has been over for already a good 2 weeks and I guess you kids are still upset over the results. The truth is that we have gained more then just a bronze. The experience you have achieved, the music we have created, the family we built, the discipline that has been instilled and lastly, we must now learn the hardest task of all, to pick ourselves up when we fall. We haven’t fallen very far as we look back at all the other achievements we have gotten and the education that experiences has provided for us. It is hard to pick ourselves up and move forward when we know not how life would be like after the competition but I see a very bright future ahead and so to all my beloved students of QNPS brass band, don’t be disheartened. We have many more things to do and we have many more things to learn and we have many more things to experience. And to all my students, our journey beckons as we forge a road ahead of us and despite all that has happened, life goes on and so does our journey to mature, to grow and to comprehend. Look at the cup as Half Full rather then to look at it half empty. Has life truly come to an end? If that is how you feel about the competition, then there is little I or anybody can do to help you. Life never truly ends for anyone as things can never truly be finished. The upcoming 75th Anniversary of QNPS is another colossal performance waiting to happen. What will happen? We will tear the school down with the greatness of our music, let the audience scream at the impressiveness of our entertainment and we will charm the school with melodies that touches the soul. Continue to breath, continue to grow, continue to work hard and lastly always believe that you are meant for something great. Never give up and life will never give up on you either.
Hope my words have brought you back to your senses. I have only but 1 last thing to say, I am proud of you kids.
